Montana is recognized as a leading organic farming state. While Montana's certified organic acreage predominantly grows grains and pulses, there is an organic alternative for almost every crop grown here. This includes direct-to-market vegetables, apples, cherries, berries, potatoes, melons, and more. Montana also produces premium quality certified organic beef, pork, lamb, goats, dairy, poultry, and eggs.

Montana's diverse organic community includes farmers, ranchers, vegetable growers, orchardists, and viticulturists as well as researchers, distributors, retailers, processors, students, chefs, and everyone who seeks to grow and enjoy nutritionally valued food.

Organic Montana was founded to provide educational and support resources for anyone interested in organic farming, food, and fiber. Organic Montana is a community of diverse individuals united by the ideals of the organic movement and sustainability. It elevates Montana's organic community by providing education and opportunities to meet, learn, collaborate, mentor, do business, and more.

Organic farming is not prescriptive. It's a system that requires diverse crops and diverse approaches subject to constant change. Organic Montana strives to give farmers and ranchers, whether just starting out or veterans of many harvests, the tools and support they need to adapt and thrive.
